SunTrust National Half Marathon Reaches Capacity

suntrust-09.jpgHalf Marathon field sells out with over 5,000 qualified registrants - (Press Release) WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Greater Washington Sports Alliance announced today that the 2009 National Half Marathon has sold out. The race which is scheduled to be run on March 21, 2009 has reached capacity for the first time in its four year history with just over 5,000 slots filled. “This is a historic milestone in the life of this race and for the city of Washington, D.C.,” says Robert Sweeney, President of the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. “We always envisioned that this race and our city would quickly become one of the premier running events on the racing calendar and this news is strong confirmation.”

Spots to compete in the full marathon are still available but that portion of the race is rapidly nearing its capacity of 3,000 runners. The 4th Annual SunTrust National Marathon and Half Marathon will begin and end on the grounds of historic RFK Stadium and is the only marathon run entirely within the District of Columbia.
