PTCRC Logo.jpgFounded by a group of runners in 1981, the Peachtree City Running Club has become one of the largest and most active clubs in the southeast. The club was formed to promote and stimulate an interest in the sport of running; to encourage physical exercise, sportsmanship, and friendship; and to encourage individual members to strive for proficiency, conditioning, and safety.Since its inception, the PTCRC has been active in the community. The club is responsible for the donation of several water fountains along the cart paths of Peachtree City, direct support to the middle and high school track and cross-country programs, the annual Ronnie Godwin Memorial Scholarship given to outstanding high school male and female runners, support of local non-profit organizations by supplying equipment, volunteers, and expertise, thousands of hours of volunteer support to community related running activities, and purchasing much needed equipment for the local police and fire departments.

Newsletter
The LEGacy is a RRCA National and Regional Award Winning Best Small Club Newsletter. Our newsletter is available online at our website every other month beginning in January of each year and is jam-packed with club and running related info, such as 1,000 Mile Club updates, Grand Prix standings, club meeting minutes, upcoming race calendar, applications, articles, and so much more.

Monthly meetings
Our monthly meetings feature a guest speaker. who presents running and fitness related material.

Weekly Group Runs
Weekly group runs are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays consist of a fun run with a 5K to 10K distance being targeted; Sundays draw more of a challenge with a run of 10 miles or more. Runners meet up after these runs to have breakfast in town.

Monthly Club Grand Prix Events (Men & Women’s Open & Masters)
This series is designed with a combination of speed and prediction races so everyone has a chance to win. Monthly awards are given to each male and female winner. Recognition is awarded to all who complete six events. The top five overall male and female winners in two age groups receive awards.

Elementary School Grand Prix Series
During these tough economic times and with school budgets being reduced, these fund raising races are more important than ever. Each year, all money raised goes to the individual participating schools. In the past school year, more than 3,000 kids and adults participated in at least one of 16 races and raised more than $100,000. This program has spawned at least 10 "in-school" running clubs in our elementary schools and has funded a number of tracks at those schools.

Kid's Marathon Finish
Several thousand local kids in Fayette County begin each school day in August and September by running laps before school and keeping track of the mileage. Not only do the kids walk into their first class ready to learn, they also receive prizes for their running. With each benchmark reached (one mile, five miles, 10 miles, etc.,) they receive prizes funded by the PTC Running Club. If they reach 25 miles before the day of the Classic races in early October, they are invited to run the last 1.2 miles of the official marathon distance (26.2 miles) before the start of the Classic races in the "Kid's Marathon Finish" and are given special commemorative medals and shirts for their diligence and dedication.

Summer Track Classic Series
A weekly track meet is held during June and July each year for kids and adults and ends with a two-day championship series.

Peachtree City Classic
ClassicLogo.jpgThe Classic includes a Men’s 5K, Women’s 5K, and an Open 15K. This event is one of the most popular racing events in the southeast and draws approximately 3,000 runners.

All American 5K
This new annual event will honor and support a soldier from the Wounded Warriors Project each year. This year is the inaugural race benefiting First Lieutenant Daniel Berschinski who lost both of his legs when he stepped on an IED while helping to secure a village in Afghanistan.

Annual Events
The club holds a family picnic on the 4th of July, a Christmas awards banquet, a club golf tournament, and a new member breakfast each year.
