COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (March 28, 2010) - In 2009, U.S. marathons overcame the "gloom and doom" of the recession by posting another year of record participation with 467,000 estimated finishers as well as the largest percent increase (nearly 10%) in more than 25 years.

For Rich, his performance will bring him full circle as he played on the finish line stage in 2001 - the second year of the event. Over 2,900 Students Run Marathon to Support Operation Smile
Over the past several months, more than 2,900 elementary school students from more than 150 schools in Virginia and the U.S. have been participating in the Operation Smile Final Mile, a fitness program designed to teach children the importance of exercise, commitment and helping others. Operation Smile is a worldwide children's medical charity that performs free facial reconstructive surgery to children around the world.

JACKSONVILLE - (March 13, 2010) - Mohamed Trafeh (Duarte, Calif.) took control from the gun to win his first U.S. title, running 42 minutes, 58 seconds Saturday morning at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. After finishing as runner-up the past two years, Katie McGregor (St. Louis Park, Minn.) easily took the women's title in 49:51 at the 33rd Gate River Run.

INDIANAPOLIS - On Sunday, March 7, Michael Wardian, 35, (Arlington, Va.) earned his third straight USA 50K road title running 2 hours, 55 minutes, 50 seconds at the Caumsett State Park 50K in Huntington N.Y. Yolanda Flamino, 33, (Hancock, N.H.) won the women's 2010 national title in 3:34:26.
